NKollectiv presents “VAST” an art exhibition inspired by the stillness and scale of wide-open landscapes. Artist and gallerist Nicole Korbe will showcase her oil and cold wax landscapes alongside Melody Epperson’s encaustic monotypes combined with inks she handmade from plants foraged from the Colorado plains. The show is on view August 1 – 31, 2025, at 3485 S. Broadway during regular gallery hours and the following free public events:

Opening Reception: Aug 2, 5 – 8 p.m.
Second Saturday Reception: Aug 9, 4 – 8 p.m.
Closing Reception: Aug 31, 2 – 5 p.m.
Ink-making Demo with Melody Epperson: Aug 31, 3 – 4 p.m.

The art in the show seeks to ground the viewer in the vastness of prairie and other landscapes, evoking a sense of quiet hope.

Walking the prairies of Colorado gives Epperson a deep sense of how expansive this landscape truly is. “My artwork in Vast is inspired by my weekly visits to these wide-open spaces,” She explains, “Each piece highlights the subtle details of native plants and the presence they hold within the fields.”

Born in the west, the high desert of New Mexico was Korbe’s childhood playground. Spending time with family in the prairies of Kansas and Oklahoma also influenced her desire to spend her life in the west. “As a child, my fascination began with the smaller characteristics of the immense spaces I explored, focusing on plants, rocks, and animals that shared my mesa playground. This obsession continued and led me to a degree in Botany with a minor in Geology. My work for “Vast” channels the feeling that I ascribe to a variety of landscapes, going beyond prairie and desert to also include ocean and sky.”

Englewood’s Second Saturday invites the community to explore the city’s vibrant creative scene. Each month, on the second Saturday, local art galleries, studios, organizations and creative businesses host events such as pop-ups, open studios, and curated experiences.
