Learning Objectives:
>Identify the negative effects that implicit bias, stigma, and discrimination can have on the mental and physical health of those in the LGBTQ+ community that interact with the perinatal world.

>Discuss the appropriate use of pronouns and terminology that should be used in respectful communication with members of the LGBTQ+ community.

>State the specific and unique mental health and health-related risks and disparities that are experienced by the LGBTQ+ community and describe how an understanding of these risks and disparities shapes the provision of competent perinatal care.

>Identify how to create a mental health and health care environment in which members of the LGBTQ+ community can feel validated, welcome and safe to discuss health issues, as they relate to perinatal services.

Content Description:
Learning objectives will be met through a combination of lecture and experiential learning. Participants will receive handouts, resources, and networking opportunities. The training will also include a learning lunch featuring a panel of LGBTQ+ people and their perinatal experiences (not included in CE hours). Practitioner applications including intake interviews, forms, and patient visits will also be discussed.
