Blue Tile Gallery at 3944 S Broadway in Englewood presents “Interdependence Day”, a group exhibition featuring guest artists Naji Elmogtaba, Leo Sailas and members of Chameleon Collective, on display July 3 - July 27, 2025. As the U.S. celebrates its culture of independence this exhibition highlights how societies, even the most dysfunctional ones, are in fact, built on the cooperation of large groups of people, or interdependence. It explores how operating within a collaborative system is an act of resistance to oppressive political and social systems, and how everyday micro actions can strengthen our communities. This show is sure to spark opinions, conversations and reactions.

The public is invited to an artists’ reception on Saturday July 12, 4-7 p.m. in conjunction with Englewood’s Second Saturday which includes art openings, pop-up events, open studios, and other curated experiences. The show is also open for viewing on Thursdays and Fridays, 4-7 p.m., Saturdays 1-7 p.m. and Sundays 1-4 p.m. during the run of the exhibition. To view the show outside of these hours please contact Gallery Manager Timi Biermann at [email protected] for an appointment.

This exhibition was born out of an urgency by the collective to produce a show that reflects the current political climate and to express their individual and collective viewpoints regarding social justice. Throughout history we have ignored and dehumanized the voices of out-groups, much to the detriment of our survival and cooperation. When we work together in ways that honors our diverse abilities, we can all succeed, and that working in collaboration is counterculture.

The assortment of work includes silkscreen and block printmaking, painting, mixed media and 3D printed sculpture created by the following artists: Naji Elmogtaba, Leo Sailas and the member artists of the Chameleon Collective including Nik Arnoldi, Timothea Biermann, Jessica Buchberger, Leslie Canon, Olivia Fink, Ashley Fulton, Emily Hammack, Karl Horeis, Rae Moen, Lucy Love Riley and Prisila Vazquez-Nava.

These artists agree that creative process itself is an act of rebellion against systemic expectations and that art making, and experiencing art, are how we can help make ourselves sane amongst the chaos.

Guest artist Naji Elmogtaba will display poster sized woodblock prints. The imagery depicts conflict and war. Naji describes himself as a native to the planet earth. He is also an NFT artist and founder of the art-fashion merchandise You Must Survive, LLC.

Guest artist Leo Sailas is a Chicano artist based in Denver and a recent MFA graduate from the University of Denver. His work brings together digital media, physical artifacts, and rasquache aesthetics to explore cultural identity, memory, and transformation. Drawing from Mesoamerican influences and speculative storytelling, Leo builds interactive experiences that highlight overlooked narratives. His practice invites audiences to engage through play, participation, and reflection.

Founded November 2021 by Timothea Biermann and Nik Arnoldi, the Chameleon Art Collective collaborates, educates, and inspires positive transformation in our communities. They are a dedicated group of teaching artists who collaborate, create, experience & exhibit art while supporting each other. “Interdependence Day” is their 7th group exhibition.
